Teena Marie, a celebrated R&B singer-songwriter, was found dead Sunday at her California home, her manager said.
Born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, California, the 54-year-old artist famously paired with late funk legend Rick James and was nominated four times for a Grammy Award, according to her official website.
Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep, manager Mike Gardner said.

VIBE: What’s on your Christmas list this year?
Jim Jones: On my list? I don’t have a Christmas list this year. The only list I have is my son’s and my lady’s.
Did you finish all your shopping yet?
Nah, I haven’t. I’ll probably finish my shopping on Christmas Eve. I’m old school with it. [laughs]. It’s been like that forever. I’m just in love with the rush of it.
The rush from giving gifts?
Yea, it feels great to celebrate Christmas with all the success that I’ve been blessed with. I’m just enjoying being able to provide for my family and getting them whatever they want. Everyday could be like Christmas for me if I really wanted, so I’m thankful for that.
Are you headed anywhere special for Christmas this year?
I’m not going anywhere. I’m just going to stay home with my son. But New Year's Eve, we got a big show with Lil Wayne in Chicago. The whole Dipset will be there. It’s going to be a big, big shindig.

No Love: Waka Flocka's Mom, Nicki Minaj's Former Manager Debra Antney, Reviews Pink Friday "It's Terrible, She Went Too Left"
Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’ disc maybe getting good reviews in some circles, but Debra Antney isn’t impressed.
Antney, who happens to be Waka Flocka’s mom and Nicki’s former manager, gave Vibe her review of Minaj’s debut cd, and it wasn’t at all flattering.
Is this a case of sour grapes? Perhaps, but Antney has repeatedly said in the past that her split from Nicki was amicable.
So lets check out Antney’s ‘Pink Friday’ review as told to Vibe’s Tracy Garraud.
"It's terrible. I like some stuff, but she went too left. I don't think people were ready for her to come [out with pop]. When I had Nicki, I really wanted her to sing. That's why I took her for training cause Nicki loves singing, but she kept saying to me, 'Deb, I can't do it yet because people won't understand.' And that's why the [rap] mixture was done to introduce them to all of Nicki. I think [Pink Friday] was very disappointing to a lot of her fans. She didn't need a lot of [the] features. That was one of the biggest things like... you gave people so many features, give them you now. Nicki could be so much better because—outside of anything that people say—she's very multi-talented. I really wish that she would learn to be more of an artist.
I didn't particularly care for ["Roman's Revenge"], but when Eminem came in I liked it. He made the song. [Nicki] didn't have to go there with [Lil' Kim]. My views on that is that she came too far to go back that route. And Kim does not even have to go there. There are no comparisons to them. Some things are best left unsaid. The whole things is stupid. I'm very disappointed that she would go that route. 'Cause I know all that she was taught. She don't have to go there with anybody. That was the stuff we always discussed. People had to learn to love Nicki— that's how the door opened up. It wasn't about Kim or Foxy or any of the rest of them. So I was just a little disappointed [by her album], but If she likes it, I love it."
Ouch... what do yall think of Deb's review?
Rumors of their banishment circulated online Thursday (December 16) evening.
Apparently, things Cam'ron did way back in the day stopped him from going to Montreal, Canada for a show. Him and VADO were denied entry into the North Nation. The were just there in Canada over the summer. No dice in the winter. (Illseed Rumors)
Cam also hit up Twitter to keep fans updated with the incident.
"my *igga @VADO_MH aka "sliiiiiiimmmmeeeee in customs wit me http://plixi.com/p/63337398," Cam tweeted Thursday.
"they just told @VADO_MH he has a felony, he cant come in da country and my dj either, im waitin to here to see what they tell me. SMH"
"they just told me NO!!! this some real bullsh*t!! we just was here a couple months ago! sayin i had machine gun in 03. f*ckin makin sh*t up" (Cam'ron's Twitter)
While waiting in customs, Killa publicly released a video alongside Vado apologizing to his Canadian fans.
"We in customs, they just shut us down," Cam said via video. "See the flag? Shut me down. This my deejay. This the only dude that made it. Ain't got a misdemeanor. There goes the flag. This go the country that did it to us -- Montreal, we sorry. We in Toronto customs. Sorry about that. Love y'all Montreal." (Twit Vid)

Let’s talk “Christmas In Harlem,” how did this little early holiday gift come about?
I don’t know, it really surprised me you know? I saw Kanye in New York at the most recent show he did. You know it was me, him, Teyana, and CyHi and I know they started it then. Basically how it got started was people just vibing out. The homie HitBoy provided the track. I recorded my verse with Pusha T in Virginia, me and him were both in VA at the time when he sent the song to get on. Its basically how things usually happen we send it back and he gives what he likes and doesn’t like. Then we usually go over it a couple times and thats what it is.
So Kanye and Dipset put things aside?
Yeah man, the rap game is too small to have beef. We are grown ass men all money is green, so you might as well just put what ever you got to the side if it’s not that serious. You know, unless it’s just something that requires that much attention. The beef that was there was nothing. It’s all fam it’s all love, like Vado is my good homie.
The G.O.O.D Fridays sort of abruptly ended was there a reason?
They didn’t necessarily end. Maybe it’s just postponed. Maybe it’s just one G.O.O.D Friday that’s just late as hell.
What was your favorite G.O.O.D Friday?
Probably “Looking For Trouble.” I also like the track titled “GOOD Friday,” actually I liked all of them but probably “Looking For Trouble.”
